About – Open Newham
We set up this site to do a number of things.
Newham has been a one-party state for decades. Where there is no political opposition, we think that it is important to provide a critical commentary.
We hope that some of it will be funny, in a crude satirical sort of way.
We want to prick some of the self-important bubbles that politicians surround themselves with.
We hope, in time to provide a forum for genuine debate on important local issues and it is our intention to provide space both for those with whom we agree and those with whom we disagree. And even those who are writing about things we haven’t made up our mind about, yet.
We would welcome contributions from our readers including councillors. We are happy to attribute articles, or to publish anonymously. We’ll consider policy discussion papers and scandal.
The only thing that we ask is that if you submit something purporting to be factual, that it is true and ideally can be verified. We’d love to hear the gossip and rumours, but if it is for publication, we’d like to be fairly sure that it is true.
Lastly, if you are identified on this website and the things that are said are untrue, please let us know at info@opennewham.co.uk . You are guaranteed a correction and a fulsome apology.
If you have had your hand in the proverbial ‘cookie jar’ and you don’t like being caught out tough! That’s what we’re here for.
