Saving Costs by Doing Nothing

Cost-saving by doing nothing seems to be a recurring theme in the contemporary council.

This is St Mary Magdalene Church in East Ham.  You might well ask, what has this got to do with the council? Strictly speaking, nothing.

But back in the 1990s the council undertook to manage the church yard as a nature reserve.

The trouble is, they haven’t been doing much managing recently. Local residents and campaigners have noted that the reserve and the church bedside it have become a target for asb and crime. They would like it to stop and have called upon the council to live up to its commitments.

To that end, they have started a Petition which is accessible via this link.
