Why is it that Residents Lose Faith in Labour Councillors?

We understand that residents of Beckton, that’s the same Beckton where Cllr Asser is a councillor, wrote to the Deputy Mayor. The Beckton Environmental Action Team, has sent numerous emails to Cllr Asser reporting the public drinking by contractors and littering.

Rather than sort the problem, it seems that TfL and LBN keep passing the buck between each other. So, after 10 months of asking, a group of community volunteers have taken it upon themselves to clear the rubbish.

Newham has worked with community and residents’ groups in the past to a positive effect, so we know that it can be done. But when residents’ concerns are ignored or the councillor shows himself to be incapable of getting anything done, that is likely to cause the said residents to feel just a little put out.

We say well done to the residents of Beckton who sorted out the problem. We are rather less complimentary of Cllr Asser, who really should do better.
