This isn’t about corruption, the mayor is absolutely opposed to corruption, so we can be clear that there will be no corruption under her regime. We only mention this because the mayor and her acolytes were wanting to assert corruption regularly in respect of the previous incumbent and his cabinet.

An Update on the Internecine Factionalism that is Rife in Newham Labour.

Ousted Deputy Mayor John Gray is making a come-back. Insiders tell us that irrespective of political sympathies, members are not unhappy with Gray because at least he knows how to chair a meeting. Gray is still under a cloud however (as is Fiaz), because he was listed in the Hirsh report for allowing/condoning the posting of antisemitic remarks of a Labour Party Facebook page.

A recent meeting of the Labour Group were told that some eight members of the Group were currently under investigation by the Labour Party. This is unprecedented. Fully 12% of the Labour Group are being investigated by the Labour Party for breaches of their rules.

It’s got the right buzzword, “Peace”. Everyone is welcome. How can Open Newham be critical of such an event? Everyone in their right mind must hope, and if they have a deity in their lives, might even pray for peace in Gaza. You’d have to be cruel to wish otherwise.

So, is that what Newham Muslim Forum, the Mayor’s favoured Muslim organisation, is doing?

The most recent missive from the office of Newham’s Labour Whip shows the degree to which the elected Chief Whip has been side-lined by his supposed deputy. Lofthouse is clearly the favoured one in relations with the mayor and she has taken it as her role to implement the mayor’s instructions, leaving Cllr Anamul Islam with time on his hands.

The line-up for the by-election has been announced. Having suspended the two Newham CLPs the Labour Party started the selection process again. Potential candidates were given 24 hours to submit applications. As a result, the Party selected former councillor Farah Nazeer to stand.

Newham will shortly be welcoming Karen Whelan to the senior staff team. Ms Whelan will come in to head the council’s Community Wealth Building initiative, one of Mayor Fiaz’s pet projects imported from Corbynite Preston.
