We noted the presence of Newham Mayor, Rokhsana Fiaz on the list of speakers in commemoration of the Pentonville 5. This, it is believed is part of her attempt to polish up her left-wing image in advance of the selection battle for Stratford and Bow.

Fifty years ago, the Royal Docks were undergoing a massive change. New technology in the shape of containerisation meant that jobs in Newham were moving eastwards to Tilbury.

There appears to be something of a spat between Newham’s two mayors. We take a swipe at most of those who are standing down or those who have been removed, albeit unwillingly, from Labour’s list for 2022. Genuinely, we would like to say thank you, for the time and the efforts you have put in to serving the borough.

We are getting interesting, and disturbing reports from Labour councillors who have recently been interviewed to determine if they are suitable candidates to stand for election in 2022.

Would you believe it? Two hundred and thirty applicants to become councillors and Newham Labour seem to have run out of women.

Veteran councillor from Royal Docks, Patrick Murphy has resigned the whip in protest at the decision of the Labour Party to reimpose Rokhsana Fiaz as Labour’s candidate for mayor in the May 2022 local elections.

In what appears to be a co-ordinated event, the Chair of East Ham CLP, Tahir Mirza and the Chair of West Ham CLP, Carel Buxton have both resigned the membership of the Labour Party.
